Privacy Policy - Find & Replace Pro for Docs

1. What the add-on is

Find & Replace Pro for Docs is a Google Docs editor add-on (a sidebar). It finds and replaces text in the document where you open it.

2. Google user data the add-on accesses

The add-on requests two permissions:

documents.currentonly: access to the single document in which you opened the add-on. The add-on reads the text of that document (body, tables, headers, footers, footnotes) to count matches when you press Preview, and changes that text when you press Replace all.
script.container.ui: to show its menu item and sidebar.

It does not access any other document, your Google Drive, your email, your contacts, your calendar or your account profile.

3. What happens to your document text

Document text is processed in memory, inside your own Google Apps Script session, only while you run Preview or Replace all. The add-on does not store it, log it, copy it or send it to the publisher or to any third party. The add-on makes no network requests at all.

4. What the add-on stores

The add-on stores these items in Google's Apps Script property store for your Google account. The publisher cannot read them, and the add-on's code never sends them anywhere:

The last list of "find -> replace" pairs you typed (so the sidebar can show it next time). Text you type into the pair fields may be personal data if you type personal data there; avoid doing so.
A counter of Replace-all runs for the current month (used for the Free plan limit).
Your Pro license key, if you entered one.

You can delete the pairs in the sidebar and remove the license key in the License section.

5. License keys and purchases

Pro license keys are verified inside the add-on with a digital-signature check. No server is contacted. A key contains the product name, the plan, an optional expiry date and a short hash of the e-mail address used for the purchase (not the address itself). Purchases are made on https://dobriedela.com/products/find-replace-pro with Paddle, which processes your payment details under its own privacy policy. The publisher receives your e-mail address and order data to send you the key and to provide support, and keeps order records as long as the law requires.

6. No analytics, no advertising, no sale of data

The add-on has no analytics, telemetry, tracking, advertising or remote code. The publisher does not sell or share user data.

7. Google API Services User Data Policy (Limited Use)

The add-on's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Specifically: the data is used only to provide the user-facing find-and-replace function; it is not transferred to others; it is not used for advertising; and no human reads it, because it never leaves your session.

7a. Support messages

If you send the publisher a document, screenshot or log for support, you decide what to send. Remove personal data first. Support attachments are deleted after the case is closed.

8. Security

All processing happens inside Google's infrastructure under your account. The add-on has no server of its own.

9. Children

The add-on is a general office tool and is not directed at children.

10. Your rights

Where the GDPR or similar laws apply, you may ask what personal data the publisher holds about you (order and support records) and ask for it to be corrected or deleted, subject to legal retention duties. Contact: support@dobriedela.com.

11. Changes

Changes to this policy are published at the same URL with a new effective date. Material changes are noted in the add-on's listing.
