Privacy Policy - Tab Vault (Chrome extension)

1. What the extension is
Tab Vault saves, backs up and restores browser sessions, including tab groups. Its single purpose is to keep a copy of the windows and tabs you have open, so you can open them again later.
2. What data the extension handles
When you press "Save" (or, on the Pro plan, when an automatic snapshot or the daily backup runs), the extension reads from the Chrome windows of your normal (non-incognito) profile:
- the address (URL) and title of each open tab, and whether the tab is pinned;
- the name and color of each tab group, and whether it is collapsed;
- the position and size of each window.
It does not read page content, form data, cookies, passwords, browsing history or the contents of any website. It has no access to any website (no host permissions). It ignores incognito windows, empty "new tab" pages and its own pages.
3. Where the data goes: nowhere
Everything is stored on your computer in the extension's local storage (chrome.storage.local) inside your Chrome profile. The extension makes no network requests of any kind. It has no accounts, no servers, no analytics, no telemetry, no crash reporting, no advertising and no remote code. The publisher cannot see your sessions, and the extension never sends them to the publisher or to any third party. The publisher does not sell or share user data.
4. Files you create
Export and the Pro daily backup write JSON files to the TabVault folder inside your browser's Downloads folder, through the downloads permission. These files contain the sessions described in section 2. They are ordinary files on your disk: you decide where they are kept, who sees them and when they are deleted. If you sync your Downloads folder to a cloud service, those files go with it; that is outside the extension's control. Importing a file reads only the file you choose.
5. License key and purchases
The Pro plan is unlocked with a license key. The key is stored in the extension's local storage and is checked inside the extension with a digital-signature check; no server is contacted. A key contains the product name, the plan, an optional expiry date and a short hash of the e-mail address used for the purchase (not the address itself). Purchases are made on https://dobriedela.com/ with Paddle, which processes your payment details under its own privacy policy. The publisher receives your e-mail address and order data to send you the key and to provide support, and keeps order records as long as the law requires. This purchase data is not connected to your sessions, which the publisher never receives.
6. How long data is kept, and how to delete it
Sessions and snapshots stay on your computer until you delete them. You can delete each session in the manager, remove the license key on the "Plan & license" page, and delete exported or backup files from your Downloads folder yourself. Removing the extension from Chrome deletes its local storage. Files already written to Downloads are not removed with it.
7. Chrome Web Store User Data Policy (Limited Use)
The use of information received by the extension adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. The data (tab addresses, titles, groups) is used only to provide the user-facing save, back up and restore function described above; it is not transferred to others, not used for advertising or personalized ads, not used for credit or lending decisions, and no human reads it, because it never leaves your computer.
8. Permissions, in plain words
tabs: read the address and title of your open tabs so they can be saved, and open tabs when you restore.tabGroups: read and recreate tab group names, colors and collapsed state.storageandunlimitedStorage: keep your sessions on your computer; large session collections exceed the default quota.alarms: schedule automatic snapshots and the daily backup (Pro).downloads: save export and backup files into the Downloads/TabVault folder.
The extension requests no access to websites.
9. Children
The extension is a general-purpose tool and is not directed to children under 13. It does not collect personal data from anyone.
10. Security
Data stays inside your Chrome profile, protected by your operating-system account. Imported files are validated and cleaned before use, and links that could run code (javascript:, data:) are never opened. Please keep exported files in a place you trust, because they list the addresses of your open tabs.
11. Support messages
If you send the publisher a screenshot, file or log for support, you decide what to send. Please remove personal data first, and do not send session files unless asked and you are comfortable. Support correspondence is kept for 24 months, then deleted.
12. Changes and contact
If this policy changes in a way that matters, the new text will be published at the same address with a new effective date, and the extension's release notes will say so. Questions or requests: support@dobriedela.com.
